Although you may only be interested in attracting one type of bird to your yard, it is important to keep in mind that other wild birds will probably end up eating some of the food you put out, so it’s good practice to make sure the food you provide won’t do any wild birds any harm.
TOXIC FOODS
Toxic foods are poisonous to wild birds and should be completely avoided.
- Pesticide-treated foods
- Chocolate
UNSAFE FOODS
Unsafe foods are dangerous to wild birds because they can cause harm or injury to the animal due to their attributes.
- Spoiled seeds
- Stale/moldy foods
- Dairy
UNHEALTHY FOODS
Unhealthy foods won’t necessarily cause lasting harm to wild birds but should still be avoided because of the negative impact on their health.
- Bread
- Rice
- Junk foods
- Sugary foods
- Salty foods
