The UVB Sun lamp with bulb does include the flexible pole which measures about 72 inches tall. The UVB emitted is a full 20"/51cm from the surface of the lamp to prevent or reverse Metabolic Bone Disease. This light allows your pet to synthesize vitamin D3 which is important for the absorption of calcium. UVA light helps regulate behaviors such as feeding, diurnal movement, mating and similar activities. A typical household lamp or light fixture usually houses an incandescent bulb which has none of the aforementioned benefits. Optimal for use with larger cages where greater than 12" of UVB penetration is needed. Also recommended for use above screen covers which can filter out up to 50% of the UVB wavelengths.
