Our little Rowdy loves this box. He is a southern flying squirrel and it is the perfect size for him. He picks it over other bedding spots majority of the time. I also love the feature that you can open the lid from the top! -Shelly J.

This box is a good size and shape. However the wood is thin and soft, so my rehab squirrels staying for the winter only took a couple weeks to obliterate the top and most of the sides. Yes, they do get fresh branches and nuts with shells to chew too. -Lindsay M.

I like the size of this [Squirrel Nest Box] because it's perfect for my baby squirrel but with 1 major problem. The circumference of the hole is very small. My squirrel can only fit the first half of her body and the other back half of jer body is stuck. A 3.5 inches size would be perfect but 2.5? My squeaks can't fit in it. As a result, my husband had to do something to make the hole bigger. He removed the metal ring around the hole entrance and made the hole bigger. Of course, my pet squirrel already started chewing on it. The cage is made for very skinny squirrel, not for my squirrel anyway. Not worth the hassle to return it. -Aquilina B.

I bought to have in an outdoor enclosure for wintering squirrels. I stained the outside in an effort to protect the wood. Mounts easily and as long as you don't put it right at the top, the top opens. The metal ring is a great idea but fell out after a day or two. Today I went out to find the LARGE box on the ground! The back of the box is still attached to the side of the enclosure. No nails showing - so I guess that means is was only glued. I also have a squirrel box and fingers crossed that one lasts another couple months.
Overall disappointed in the quality of the box. Not sure I will buy again. -Avery A.

I got it for my flyer. He does not nest in it (he got used to nesting in an old shirt in his cage) but he likes to take food in there to eat. -David B.

Perfect box, great price! Super sturdy and durable. Only reason to get another is I rescue and rehab squirrels and this one has been chewed through in too many places. It survived a max of 3 squirrels growing into becoming releasable. Raised total of 9 before needing replacement. -Kim K.

The medium box is WAY bigger then I expected. I’ve a small family of 5 gliders and this box could easily hold a colony of 15 or more comfortably. It’s too large to hang on the inside of the cage so I’m going to have to modify my bars to have an opening to allow for the use of the box on the outside of the cage. Otherwise it’s a decently made little box. It’s a bit rough around some edges and my perch pegs hole is too large so it falls out. The box design is nice though. I like the ability to mount it inside and out if you want. The latch system is also a nice added easy one handed use but very secure. -Raymond V.

I bought the small size for my 2 girls (gliders) and they love it. I added stuffing for them to nest in. For some reason one of my gliders like to chew on this little wooden divider inside the box, but it is completely harmless.
Well built! -Anthony M.

My squirrels love it!! They have learned how to open it too. They’re so funny watching. Only thing I wish, is it would be made with more of a solid wood as they have chewed it and the peg is almost gone now. It’s only been in their cage for 11 days. -Christina P. N.

Great box and very well built. Has a divider inside that makes it almost like 2 rooms. Though my cockatiel pair chewed right through it. The pine smell was a bit strong when I received it but it eventually went away. Highly recommended nesting box for cockatiels. Love the top door where I can peek in and monitor them. -Laura H.

I got the medium one for my suggies, with the Brisbane cage. I didn’t get it for breeding purposes but just for them to have a cool little hut to enter in. It was a struggle attaching to the outside of the cage where the side doors sit. While attached on the outside, the top is unable to be opened which is a little disappointing. Was thinking of trading it in for the smaller size but didn't want to go through that hassle. I just feel it needs a little modification to fit all cages. We like the idea of it overall though! -Kelsi T.

Overall I love how this nesting box looks, and was excited to mount it on the outside of the cage using the little, otherwise pointless doors at the top of the cage. We have the Madagascar cage and the small nesting box for our sugar gliders. This combination does not work well for mounting outside the cage.
First, the small box has 2 holes, not 3, so mounting with the door on is not an option. Not a big deal, the door pops off. Second, the spacing on the Madagascar is impossible to mount this box at the top of the cage. The nesting box's door hits the top edge of the cage.
I was able to set the top of the metal ring at the top of the door opening, and rest the bottom of the box on the cross piece on the cage at the bottom of the door. By wedging some washers between the box and the cage so it sits very slightly at an angle, I was able to make it all work.mount it outside with this cage combination.
Overall I'm happy with it, it just required a little modification to work on our cage. -Alex

I use the medium size for my sugar gliders and attached it to the outside of the cage with the entrance lined up with a door in the top side of the cage. They love it! Best housing purchase I've ever made! I filled it with nesting material and they LOVE it! It frees up space on the inside of the cage for more toys! -Mailonie O.

The fresh wood has such a strong odor we filled it with dirt and leaves and left it outside for 3 days. The silver metal ring around the entrance is a good idea. It's okay for temporary, in cage needs but it's glued so don't let it get too wet and not okay for outside. It really is what you pay for and it really is just okay. -Sue E.
