I purchased this to give as a treat to the adorable and friendly squirrels that follow me around and keep me company while I’m gardening. They naturally go for the nuts first, but the rest does get consumed and I’m glad they’re getting a more balanced and nutritious diet than nuts alone can provide. -Diana O.

My squirrel absolutely loves the food ordered from Exotic Nutrition. He acts like a puppy getting a treat every time I give him fresh food. He's a happy and healthy squirrel, not fat, not skinny, plenty active with definite muscle tone. If anyone has a pet squirrel, I would recommend Exotic Nutrition squirrel food as a MUST have. - Frank J.

I feed a large family of squirrels on my property, 12-14. I Ive been making a custom blend of nuts, etc for a couple years and decided to purchase a premixed, but healthier version. It looks good…I will admit my squirrels turned their noses up the first few days. Ate the nuts out of it and left the corn, dried carrots and food blocks behind. They are doing better now, still not eating corn or carrots, but I know it’s an adjustment. I feel better knowing it’s supposed to be made for them. Will continue to use through the winter.

Actually I do like this product but this past order was really crappy. I ordered the "Squirrel Complete" directly from Exotic Nutrition. I believe I've only ordered directly from them once before. I have bought a few different Squirrel mixtures but typically I order them through another supplier. -Zeke M.
I have 2 orphaned Southern Flying Squirrels that cannot be released. The order I received from Exotic Nutrition was not what I've ever received before. The sealed bag was at least 1/4 full of just power and crumbs. When I've received this mix previously it had things like dried meal worms...this order had none...or perhaps they were part of the dust & crumbs. I screened the contents of the package to salvage the remaining portion. The other supplier is great with customer care so perhaps I'll just continue to order from them.
[Response from Seller: Thank you for your review, Zeke M. We can assure you that the issue with your product is not typical of our standards. My NR grey squirrel loves this mix with the exception of the rodent blocks that are in it. I leave them in there anyway with the hopes that she'll chew on some. She does have branches and a small half log in with her to keep her teeth in shape, so I'm not too worried about it. Otherwise she loves this!! - Doreen B

The little wild squirrels that eat out of my hand (most of them) must be spoiled from the walnuts, pecans, almonds, apple slices, and occasionally the Henry's Healthy Blocks that I feed them. I'm sure your product is very nutritious, but they didn't accept it, except for some of the nuts, and they did eat the pumpkin seeds and tried the corn. They didn't recognize the rest of it (like the insect protein) as food- and mostly just looked at me like WTF?
I think they tried to eat the Blocks, then dropped them. The mix doesn't really smell very good either, so probably not very appealing or appetizing to them. I tried! -Daryl K.

Used to be better. Lots of large pieces. Now, it is 90% pumpkin seeds. Between the fact that it costs $2 more every time I go on this site, and the $7.99 shipping and handling, the cost is outrageous. I've pretty much just started using rat food and supplementing with nuts, fruits and vegetables. My squirrel doesn't eat the bugs anyway. He is a vegetarian by choice

by Negrita876 on October 25, 2021
My squirrel does not eat any of the blocks or the dried insects. The only thing she likes or loves is the pumpkin seeds, the nuts, cashews and that is it. Everything else ends up in the garbage. However, I am very happy that there are so much of the pumpkin seeds. I will try some of the other products to find the perfect thing for her. - Bernice C.

It does seem to have way to many pumpkin seeds and rodent blocks. I change it once or twice a week but save the left overs for birds out side. He has four other feed cups and the shelless mixed nuts are always gone first. - Karen K.

This is a great product for squirrels. The only failure is the rodent blocks. As with another review, the squirrels do not eat the rodent blocks. It's almost as if they can tell it's human processed junk. However, I think there is a rabbit that comes around to eat them, and I have seen crows peck at them. The squirrels usually need to see 1 brave squirrel eat the pumpkin seeds before they start digging in, but completely eat those. As with any seed shells, it's a bit messy to clean up, but it's nutritious and that is the important part. The dried worms appear to be eaten. They take the peanuts. However, they don't seem to like the corn. I have tried other bags and corn is just not something squirrels will eat. I think my neighbors mouse is eating it though. Overall, 80% of the feed is eaten by the end of the day, so that's great. - Derrick G.

by CHRISTINAG on September 20, 2021
I don't particular like it. The bag is mainly pumpkin seeds and rodent blocks. The squirrels won't touch the rodent blocks at all. We took a hand full of this product and put it out on the fence for the wild squirrels and they won't eat it either. - Christina G.

I buy it because it is the only thing of its kind available, but I feel like the quality has gone down since I originally started buying it. I feel like it is kind of like mixed nuts that are 90% peanuts. This stuff is 90% pumpkin seeds. -Ann W.

I feed squirrels on my deck, and they won't eat this at all. They won't even touch it. -Diane L M.
[Response from Seller: Thank you for your review Diane. We're sorry to hear that the wild squirrels on your deck won't eat this food. Squirrels are natural foragers in the wild, so they are usually pickier than other animals and won't always eat every type of food you try to feed them. If they have plenty of choices of food available to them, they will simply choose to eat whichever type(s) they have a preference for.]

I have created a mini nature preserve and dog path in my back yard for the neighborhood to enjoy(our house sits between two roads, so people can walk their dogs more safely) and everyone’s favorite part has to be our community of squirrels. I rescued one and once she transitioned to outdoors, she quickly made a family and now we have 8-9 daily residents in houses who play all day for the enjoyment of everyone. They get about half of their food from me and the rest I force them to forage. Even with my food(Squirrel complete) I place it all around the yard in different places so they still have to go through the foraging effort and retain their skills. I supplement this food with avocado and fruit in the winter and everyone is happy and healthy. I couldn’t have kept them all so well fed with a balanced diet without this food. Thank you Exotic Nutrition!! -Jason H.

Pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans and almonds are things my backyard squirrels will eat out from this. Corn and peanuts aren't the most healthy for squirrels, but they do eat the peanuts. The rodent blocks get chewed on a bit by some. They pretty much give the rest a paws down. -Max D.

My squirrel doesn’t seem to eat that much of it, and instead of throwing leftovers away I’ve been keeping in coffee can in fridge for outside birds. I’ve been Changing daily, should I wait until he eats it all. I also feed frozen thawed out vegetables daily and fruits to along with 2-4 nuts daily. I put pinch of calcium powder on veggies to and he’s beautiful and soft as a rabbit but just want to keep him healthy. I also feed him one picky bite square daily. -Karen K.

It's alright if you need a starting point to see what your squirrels enjoy eating. My squirrels didn't eat the meal worms, crickets, rodent blocks, actually might be easier to just say they only enjoyed the pumpkin seeds almonds, and walnuts. Instead I've just been buying them fresh veggies fruits seeds/nuts that are unsalted and sweet cattle feed pellets for extra nutrition. Better for them in the long run.
