With the guidance and advice of a PhD in animal nutrition, Opossum Complete has been formulated to provide a healthy chicken and insect-based protein source for your opossum. The high ratio of calcium in the insects (BSFL) helps to prevent calcium deficiencies. Dried natural apple, blueberries, cranberries, and papaya are added as fruit sources. See below for full product ingredients and analysis.

  • Blended with essential vitamins and minerals into an easy-to-feed complete diet
  • Wholesome natural ingredients including whole insects and dried fruits
  • Contains the recommended nutrition necessary for proper growth and development of pet opossums
  • Balanced Ca:P ratio (2:1) to help prevent Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD)
  • Net Weight: 1 pound / 16 ounces
Feeding Recommendation: Offer Opossum Complete daily as a staple diet. Supplement the diet with Exotic Nutrition's Liquid Calcium Supplement to help prevent MBD, as well as high-calcium vegetables (leafy greens, squash, sweet potato) and occasional protein sources like insects, fish (with bones), eggs (with shell), or chicken. Opossums have a large appetite and a slow metabolism. If feeding free choice, carefully monitor their food intake while encouraging activity. Adjust the amount fed to ensure optimum body weight. Always provide clean, fresh drinking water.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place (under 72 °F). Refrigeration is highly recommended to retain full nutritional value. Store bag sealed, in an air-tight container free from pests and insects. Do not frequently expose food to a freeze/thaw cycle. If storing for longer than 8 weeks, refrigerate (up to 6 months). If storing for longer than 6 months, freeze (up to 12 months).

Happy with my purchase! I know my possums are receiving the proper nutrition. -Wendy H.

My opposum is about 15 weeks I believe, it transitioned to this food after formula. I did purchase the instectivore-fare also but I dont want to overload the opposum with protein. The diet is the most difficult thing with opposum and I'd just hope a balanced ratio staple food is made soon. If this is only for a certain age of opposum, the bag should be labeled as such. Maybe my opposum is too young for this?

Absolutely love this product! Was nervous about trying it with my opossum because MBD is a big concern for me, but she has grown to be so healthy with this diet along side some fresh foods as well. -Kourtney P.

My 2 non releasables absolutely love it. I soak it and use it to make a puree for a my female who I found hit by a car suffering from head trauma. She will only eat completely smooth baby food consistency foods. This is easy to blend into that for her adding baby food veggies and unflavored pedialyte for the right consistency. She loves it. My young male transitioned easily to this diet eating it dry, adding cut up fresh veggies in with it and is always eager at meal time. I would highly recommend this diet to any opossum person. -Rebekah L.

The kids eat it so it okay. The protein is too high so "cutting " it with more vegs becomes another dance for rehabbers. But thanks for thinking about us! -Sue E.

[Response from Seller: Thank you for your review, Sue. Our manufacturing team is currently working on a new formula for the Opossum Complete with lower levels of protein that we hope will work better for the "kids". We hope you'll have the chance to try it out!]

It's just a bag of powder with a few orange and yellow chunks of fruit. I'm sure it's made from good intentions but I feel like I wasted almost 20$ for a bag of powder it came inside a box box was not damaged so it didn't happen during shipping its like someone taking a hammer smashing dog food in a bag then grinding it with a mortar and pestle. Disappointed this was first time I ever ordered from here. Only thing I can do is blend it into yogurt or something for them maybe add a drop water to make some food paste for them. This was absolutely not what I expected. Sorry exotic nutrition for this review but this is the truth of what I wasted money on thanks for the quick shipping though. I love my girls and want them to have at least something decent from the picture this wasn't supposed to be powder ? -Megan l.

[Note from Exotic Nutrition: Customer has been contacted about issue resolution. To future customers - Each bag is sifted before packaging to minimize powder. This is a granular diet, so it can be more fine that other types of foods, and release powder (<5%) during movement in transit. If larger portion of food ever arrives powdery, please forward photos to sales@exoticnutriiton.com for issue resolution. If you're looking for a full-pellet diet with zero powder, we would recommend the Premium Insectivore Diet. This food consists of long, cylindrical pellets made with chicken-based protein that is very popular for Opossums.]

This is the best food for a possum. It is a complete diet so I don't have to give anything else to supplement his diet , unless I just want to, and because this diet was so great , I have ordered treats with the new bag and will let you know how he likes them also -Sherry B.

This is the girls (opossums) favorite dry kibble, being a bit spoiled, they do pick out the dried fruit bits before eating the other morsels. Do to their age (4yrs +), and weight (plump), I alternate this with the insectivore diet, and other dry kibble, to supplement their staple of: fresh foods; vegi’s, boiled eggs (with shell), etc. -Kathryn R.

My opossum likes this stuff fine, but. The protein content is way too high, and the calcium/phosphorus balance is all wrong for Virginia opossums. -Lara C.

I feed the local creatures around my house and livestream on twitch. The animals love it all. There is a squirrel, mouse, and opossum that are my regular visitors. Once in a while a bird. You can view it all here: http://www.twitch.tv/beholdhergaming. -Lora S.

My little girl Blossom, just loves it. I was afraid she might not like it, as she is spoiled rotten, (the only way to have a pet!) I even maker her broccoli beef "possum patties" which she loves better than her mice! I blend the Opossum Complete up to a powder and at meal time I add vitamins and calcium to it along with hot water (I always give her food to her warmed up) and she just gobbles it up! -Rose Marie

When I first got my opossum she absolutely loved this stuff and it kept her nice and healthy. Unfortunately, once I gave her a little taste of cat food kibble to try she became spoiled and didn't care for the Opossum Complete anymore. It has all the necessary ingredients that an opossum would get if they normally consumed pinkies, insects, etc. If your opossum likes this stuff, stay with it and don't try anything else or they'll start being picky like mine is ( still love her though!)

My little guy Able enjoys the bugs and fruit bits I'm happy when the opossum is happy.
