The Congo Cage is everything you would imagine. It shipped well packaged. It's well made and safe for our little fur critters. It did not come with assembly instructions, and the instructional video linked from Exotic Nutrition website was for the older model of Congo Cage. However, with a little time and patience we were able to figure it out. We really wanted the bigger habitat for our gliders with the full sized door, but it's a little cost prohibitive, so the Congo is just fine. -Dawn R

We purchased this cage as an upgrade for our flyer. She loves all the room! She has space to run, jump, & play even with several toys, sleepers and tunnel, wheel, and ladders! It has been great for her. I love that it's on wheels and has the shelf at the bottom. We added 2 baskets for food, treats, and bedding - works great to keep everything nearby and out if sight. -TJ R

This is our 3rd Congo cage. 2 house 4 sugar gliders and 1 has 3 gliders in it. Our gliders are happy and healthy because they have a safe and large area to play. The cage is big enough to hang all their toys and 2 wheels. 😁😁 -Stephanie

I own a different used cage of exotic nutrition and absolutely loved it for my rats. We own 17 rats after our two adopted ladies were unexpectedly pregnant and after our babies started to grow, we realized we needed another biiiig cage the Congo cage is perfect for that😍 once we moved our female rat to this cage they were so happy - just bruxing and exploring to their hearts desire. We have already discussed purchasing this cage again once we fix our males so we can connect all these together to create an even bigger space🥰 one of the bars was bent during shipment, but it wasn’t enough for our rats to wiggle out of or anything! - Ashley W.

This cage is phenomenal! It is a large size and is a fancy penthouse for my two budgies. You cannot get this value anywhere else. A US manufacturer using high quality materials at a great price is hard to find. It came incredibly quickly! That being said we did have a few hiccups with it.
1 - A few pieces came bent. The tray that serves as a shelf has a big indent in it, but it wasn't a big deal, the tray that serves as the poop-catcher was bent right where the handle attaches. These were very minor, and clearly related to shipping, not the product itself.
2 - It is great that they include extra screws, as several of the screws has no indent to put a screwdriver in, luckily we had enough to get the cage together.
3 - There was a spot where a punch hole should've been for attaching the legs to the frame, it was not punched out all the way so we used a broken screwdriver and a hammer to punch it out. This is something that should've been checked before being sent out, but with the holiday, we understand. Luckily we had the tools to fix it on our own.
4 - A few extra tools than they include will be needed to assemble. We used a Philips head screwdriver, a 9/16 wrench and a 5/16 wrench.
5 - My only critiques of the cage design are; The bottom two trays (grate and poop-catching tray) don't fit in flush well and would be able to jangle around with any animal besides small birds, and that the doors are very floppy, I made a braid to hold the door open when it is needed so that it doesn't smack my birds. accidentally.
Otherwise this is a phenomenal cage and even with the quirks it is INCREDIBLY worth it for the quality. My A&E cage that was half the size was $130 and broke irreparably within a year. This Congo Cage will last a very long time and I'm so proud to have it in my household.

This cage was reasonably easy to put together. I did it alone, though having another set of hands to hold pieces for the initial steps would have been nice.
It's a great size for 2 sugar gliders (and more if I had them). Plenty of room for them to jump and play. The drawer for a cage liner makes clean up easy. I love the bigger top and bottom doors for easy access. I've not used the smaller side doors very often, but they come in handy too.
I somehow missed that the cage comes with 2 feed dishes, so I bought two feeder dishes. It is nice to have a spare set.
I haven't moved it around, but being on wheels is a nice feature. It would be heavy to move.

Each night all five cages are moved on their wheels into and out of two rooms they are released from their cages so they can play. This came with easy to understand instructions for assembly. It also came with extra bolts in case you lose one. We decided to attach a nesting box to the outside of this case. I popped off one of the feeder doors and reattached it from the inside so that at night I could close up the nest box. - Minty S.

I want to love it, but I feel cheated. The slide in wire rack pictured is not at all what I received. The wire grid included with my cage is not appropriate for tiny squirrel feet. Sigh. False advertisement. -Danielle B.

I’ve been using Exotic Nutrition since 2017. I hate to think of how much money I’ve spent because I’ll get on here to buy 1 or 2 items, for my squirrels, then I’ll see all these little things I think they’ll enjoy and I just go crazy. It’s just like buying for your kids. I’ve bought 3 or 4 of the Congo cages, I think, from them because I have four squirrels that have been brought to me that could not be released out in the wild. And, if you need a cage, don’t go on Amazon and try to save money buying a cheaper one. The cages on here have held up to the test of time. My squirrels have not been able to chew through and the Congo cage has plenty of room for them to climb around and have fun. They run up and down the cage and do flips. I’ve decked the cages out with the large ropes sold on here and the bridges that are made of logs. I also put some of the branches they sell on here in their cages, especially, the ones that help keep their nails trimmed down. We even put a log in there for them to have a taste of the outside. Also, that helps them to keep their teeth & toenails trimmed. I’ve bought enough play things that I can swap things out so they don’t get bored with the same things. Plus, I’ve bought several of the foragers to put in their cage. I’ll usually buy some pumpkin or squash seeds to put in there for them to try and get at. Also, my squirrels eat the Squirrel Complete Diet and we supplement with whatever fruit or veggie we have available. Nuts are given every now and then as treats. In the spring, they love for me to pick them some fresh daisies to eat. Oh, they love the barbells sold on here and the different balls they sell on here. I appreciate Exotic Nutrition and all the wonderful products they have available for my babies. My orders are always shipped fast and I’ve never had a problem. As long as I have squirrels, I’ll be a one of your #1 customers, I hope!

High quality cage with secure doors and tray. A big improvement over the similar cage we replaced with this one. Make sure you attach the back panel with the “cavity” at the bottom facing out or there will be a gap in the cage. The Conga Cage was very easy to install and I did it in about an hour. It is spacious, easy to clean and roomy for all the habitats, hammocks and toys a furry could want! Great and easy enough to install. I had trouble getting the full cage lined up on the stand/shelf to put in the screw so I just used to couple zip ties to secure it. Probably need two people one to hold it in place and one to do the screw but no big deal. -Aryn D.

It's a good, sturdy cage for the price. My only notes are that it could use mini doors in the main doors and could use more side doors or lower side doors. The reason is that it makes it easier to feed gliders and add/remove items without anyone running off. With the big open doors, you need high compliance from your gliders. This becomes very important if you're supporting multiple colonies. Even very obedient gliders aren't reliable 100% of the time. - Lex F.

Don't get this cage. I wish I hadn't. This one where you can only open through the middle doors so the front sides are always blocking you. Trust me, it is REALLY a pain to always have to work around that. Buyer regret for sure!
Also, If you wanted to get two of these cages and take out the side racks to conjoin them into one big cage (like they show in their photos), note that you would have to have these sit on the floor or make some other stand because the racks underneath would have to go. You would not be able to zip tie the cages together because the racks have these side rails and you would have a big gap between the cages.
Assembly for this was a pain because the bars that go on the rack don't go the way they should. We had to do one bar differently than the other so the tabs go around the bottom of the cage, but then the bars don't align right.
Sigh sigh sigh. Avoid this cage. It's not horrible but it's certainly not the best, and if you're investing in a cage, you want the best, right? -Amber H.

I bought this cage for my two sugar gliders a couple months ago, and so far I've been very happy with it. It was easy to assemble and has more than enough space for my gliders to run and jump around in. However, I have two issues with this cage that keep it from being 5-star worthy in my book, and both are related to the pull-out tray.
First, the tray is too close to the bottom of the cage, so my gliders are able to reach into the tray to grab any bits of food that may have fallen in. This isn't a serious problem, but it's not ideal to have them rooting through their own waste/bedding to get to food scraps.
The second issue is that pulling the tray out from the cage makes noise and/or vibrations that startle my gliders awake every time, causing them to jump out of the pouch and huddle in a corner. I usually try to clean out the tray while they are asleep, so having them wake up every time I do it isn't great, and I really don't like the fact that it seems to scare them. I'll likely need to hold them in the pouch while cleaning the tray from now on, which is fine but I never had this problem with my previous cage.
All in all, this is a great cage with a few minor issues. -Nolan M.

The Congo cage is large and spacious for our sugar gliders. Plenty of room for pouches; tree branches; and other accessories. The bars are spaced the right amount for the sugar gliders to grip but not allow an escape. I used the clips of their pouch and toy to ensure that the top 2 doors stay closed. -Andy K.

Just recently got my first 2 sugar gliders a few weeks ago, and I bought this cage for them. So far, it’s easy to clean and my gliders love it. However my only issue with it, is that there are 2 small doors that open on each side of the cage near the top. Somehow my sugar gliders did manage to break out in the middle of the night and with them still being new and not all the way bonded, catching them was not easy. If you buy this cage, I recommend to zip tie the small doors on the side of the cage. -Jessica B.

My hubby ordered 2 of these cages! My gliders love them! I had to try and fix some of the sides due to wires being bent! The instructions were not really helpful. I had to watch a tutorial to get them put together. I really need a third but not sure due to bent wire that make it so my glider may be able to escape. -Racheal H.

I love how big the cage is. The big doors are perfect. I do not like the wire shelves and ladders they don't snug up to the sides of the cage and they are not very stable. I really like how big this cage is but the bottom part of the cage I cannot pull out the bottom bars, the tray is fine. But when I pull out the bottom bars it does not slide in correctly i have to put them at an angle and even then it wont work sometimes. Its hard to push it in so I just gave up on sliding it out if it wasnt for that I wouldve gave a 5 star. Its a shame such a good cage has to have a huge flaw on the bottom bars. -Jennifer W.

I've had mine for almost a week. To start off, the instructions for assembling SUCK!!! The hardware that comes with are different sizes, different metal, and when you have assembled the cage, you have a surplus of hardware left. I am a very handy man that can make almost anything work but come on Exotic Nutrition! Moving on, the quality and durability are superb. The only complaint I have as far as the actual cage goes is the bars run North and South with 7.5" before there is a cross bar. This makes it impossible to hang my water bottles without them being to tall for my gliders. My gliders also have a difficult time climbing on the side of the cage because the cross bar spacing is to far apart. -Eric S.

I would have given this 5 stars except the instructions that came with the cage were pretty awful. The video the provide in the description is pretty good and somewhat easy to follow, but it tells you the wrong way to install the support bars on the rolling stand. In the video it shows you to install them in the outside of the stand, but you are actually supposed to put them on the inside of the stand (contact customer service and they will send you a picture).
Good news is customer service is amazing! I contacted them about the issue via email and they responded within minutes! My shipping was free standard, which was estimated 5-7 business days. It came in 2 days!!
As far as quality of the cage...It’s sturdy and strong. Just the right size for two gliders and all their bedding and toys. It could easily house another glider or 2 comfortably. I love the multiple doors. I did buy extra locks for the smaller side window/doors.
All in all, once over the issue of stability, I was super happy with the company responsiveness and the quality of the cage. -Brittney G.

I’ll start from the beginning.. I like this cage a lot and would recommend it. It’s easy to put together pretty big, lots of room. But lately I’ve run into a problem, there’s a small door on the right hand side of the cage near the top that my gliders keep managing to get open no matter how many clips I put to keep it shut, I’ve had two escapes in a week. I’ve had to become quite creative to be able to keep this small door shut so they don’t get out during the night hours. Overall this is a great cage, I think I’ve just got some escape artists that I’ll need to modify it a bit for their needs. -Aleia K.

This item is large and I was concerned that shipping might take awhile. Exotic Nutrition shipped this very quickly and it arrived in great shape. I have three gliders and this cage gives them plenty of room to move around. It is well-made, sturdy, and assembly was easy. I was able to assemble this myself but it would have been much easier with a second pair of hands. The doors are large and allow access throughout the cage from top to bottom. There are also smaller access doors on the sides of the cage that require just a small amount of pressure to open. My gliders have figured out how to open them but they are easily secured with a zip tie. Overall, I'm thrilled with this purchase and couldn't be happier with Exotic Nutrition's service. I did not run into any problems but if I had, I feel confident that my concerns would have been heard and resolved expediently. -Tracy M.

I am very happy with the congo sugar glider cage. My two sugar gliders love to run around at night and the cage they had before just didn't seem big enough for their shenanigans. This cage has plenty of room for them to jump and run around. They enjoy the ladders and wood pieces that came with the cage. Plus there is plenty of extra room to fit all of their accessories. Having this cage ensures if I want to obtain more gliders I will have plenty of room.
Although I love the end result in regard to the congo cage, the instructions for assembly that came with it were hilariously difficult to follow. Once my husband and I started putting the cage together, it was easy to figure out where the rest of it went. Definitely easier to put together with two people. -Carley B.

I bought this cage in January 2019 and it's held up so well since! For reference I'm using this cage to house 2 rats on the bottom and 2 parrotlets up top, it works fantastic! I created my own divider with a slate of wood and a dog cage tray to put on top so it would catch the bird droppings, and I modified it to slide out just like the bottom part does. It works perfect for me and I haven't had any issues since I got it! Since it comes with perches I just used that for the birds along with the perches I already had, and for the rats I modified the ramps and shelves since it's in a smaller area, and it makes the ramps more sturdy for them too. Both sets of animals have plenty of room and it was MUCH cheaper to do all the modifying myself instead of buying a double cage that already has the divider (most I've seen of this quality are close to $400 if not more with shipping). The double feed dishes it comes with are nice but corners are hard to clean out but they work just fine for both animals.
The ONLY problem I found at all with this cage was the wheels and bolts, when putting together the wheels were very hard to put on because the space was slightly too small. I had to have my boyfriend shove them as hard as he could to get them to squeeze in. The problem with the bolts is that over time the bottom ones near the wheels will become loose, even if you aren't moving the cage, so just be sure to tighten them every now and again and you're good to go! -Kayla R.

It holds up well over time. I have one that's 5 yrs old. I use them for disabled squirrels, and it still doesn't need painting. When I need replacement parts, those are dependably available as well. A cage becomes useless much sooner if you can't replace its parts. -Laura R.

The cage is good the only thing I dislike is the quality of the shelves and ramps. They are so flimsy. The ramps bow when my squirrel walks on them and the shelves and ramps ‘jump’ when my squirrel does because they are so light. I will definitely be looking for better ones but with what I paid for the cage can’t see paying another $60 for the ones sold through here in case they are the same. Love the cage, very sturdy and the large doors are great! Only complaint is the instructions are a little difficult to follow so I watched the video on how to put it together from the company and there are slight problems in the video that will mess you up big time (parts being put on in the wrong direction etc) -Haleigh T.

Love this cage! I have two makes rats and it offers them plenty of room. The quality is outstanding and it’s easy to put together. It took my boyfriend and I about and hour to assemble it, and the video that’s provided on this site is very helpful. I highly recommend this cage. It’s worth the price. SQUIRREL APPROVED!! BEST QUALITY CAGE OUT THERE AND VERY REASONABLE!!! I bought the Congo cage for 2 young squirrels once they graduated from their nursery cage. The cage is very well built and it looks great, I highly recommend it as it is working very well for my squirrels. Easy to put together by following their YouTube instruction video, very nice touch. We ordered this cage for 2 sugar gliders. It is outstanding! Assembly was fairly straightforward, although the screws could have been more easily identifiable. We ended up with the wrong screws in the base, and had to swap them out half-way through the process. The online video detailing the assembly was concise and covered just about any questions we had. You only need a Philips screw driver and a 14MM box wrench. Once assembled, this thing is huge! There is plenty of room for toys, hammocks, branches and wheels. Our gliders love the space and really seem happy about their new home. In summary, this cage is well worth the investment in your gliders happiness. -Johnny M.

I was very impressed with the cage and the engineering and thought that was put in to manufacturing this cage it is excellently manufactured and is very easy to assemble they really put a lot of thought into it I'm looking at accessories to add to it we have a squirrel that entered the family a few months ago and I think it's going to be a perfect cage. -James D.

I have two sugar gliders who are nothing short of ecstatic about this cage. I received my order quickly, packaged well, and with no pieces missing. I too suggest watching the assembly video, by following along my boyfriend and I were able to put this together in about 40 minutes.
I went back and forth for a really long time when it comes to different cage options; I love my little rescue babies, and I want them to live their best life. I read all of the reviews and was still sceptical, so I had to leave one myself in hopes of giving another overly-cautious sugar momma some peace of mind. I have 2 male gliders and their old cage was so small. I decided to purchase a larger cage that could accommodate toys and snuggly spaces, and decided on the Congo cage. My gliders and I both love this cage. It took some time to put together, but it wasn’t difficult. I really like that it’s on wheels so I can move it to vacuum under it. The only thing I would change is making more height on the shelf to accommodate treat bags, vitamins, spray bottles etc. My son and I both really like the cage door locks. They’re easy to it feels secure. My gliders are super happy and they play and swing and all their toys fit. Overall, I would recommend this cage to any glider owner. It’s large and looks nice and happy gliders is the perfect combination for me. The cage also shipped very quickly and took 5 days to arrive (to Utah). -ShaNae M.

Awesome cage- keeps the smell very contained and very easy to clean. Would of liked if it was a bit wider for more room after putting perches and toys and pouches in it, it is a little cramped but overall this is a great cage for my 2 sugar gliders. Says it can hold up to 4 but I think it would be a little cramped for 4. -Marco R.

Omg this cage is amazing!!!!! I waited and tried putting off buying. But it is soo worth the money. Very easy to clean. I put it together on my own. Just had help to lift cage onto base. The large doors make it very easy to access the whole cage. Fast shipping got it in 2 days. Only down side is the cage cover is out of stock!!!!! This cage is perfect for my 2 sugar glider babies. They love it. It is well constructed and I love the large doors on the front. To assemble, make sure you find the instructions online (posted in the product description and on Youtube) since the instruction diagram included in the package is not easy to follow. My little girl squirrel loves this cage. Very roomy, came on time and it went together smoothly. Although it does boast "paw safe", my little girl is used to comfort and I am having a hard time finding shelf covers to soften contact for her little feet. Another issue (perhaps I viewed too many cages) is I was under the impression the bottom would be cross wired. Squirrels love to hide their food and everything falls through the bottom grate including the bedding. Another issue is their messiness and had only found one cage with a mess guard. Please before I have to, design a new add on kit that offers shelf covers, cross wire bottom and mess guard to fit Congo dimensions. I'd buy that kit in a heartbeat! -Ellyn L.

Even though the cage took some time to get together, the end result was worth the wait. Our squirrel loves it because it gives him more room to jump around. We like it because it fits in the space we needed it too, and it rolls around when we need to relocate or clean it.

We are very pleased, even with issue discussed below. The cage and stand are relatively easy to put together (with two people — especially at the start with the bigger, heavier pieces). Assembled they are very sturdy, yet mobile with the wheels. It's easy to access glider, to and reposition toys, ladders, etc. through the wide doors. This high-rise is so impressive, it makes our hamsters feel like second-class citizens in their flimsy store-bought cages.
Only one drawback that we encountered, and it was temporary: How to **affix** the cage to the wheeled stand was not obvious. It is not addressed in the otherwise very helpful video or in the wordless diagrams. Everything is individually super sturdy and the stand is definitely weight bearing. Okey dokey. Good to go. Happy glider.
