We have a lot of birds, which means I have built up and used a lot of different cages over the years. After moving across the country with travel cages, we needed larger cages again for our conures and our parakeets. The Brisbane had the right size and looked similar to what we had before, so I ordered two.
I must say, these are the best packed and finished cages I have ever received. Everything fit perfectly and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I built up the cages in record time and they are beautiful yet sturdy. We chose the pure white one and they look fantastic.
The two main doors latch securely and the side doors are easy to use, yet secure.
The drawer is at a perfect height for cleaning and the casters roll easily on our hard floors.
Given the price point, this cage is hard to beat if you are looking for a large flight cage for small to medium birds. -Michael F.

I have this cage for my sugar glider and it works wonderfully. It was easy to put together and there is plenty of room for him to move around as well as for me to get his stuff in and out for cleaning. This cage is also easy to move around. Great cage, a lot bigger than it looks. Bought 2 to upgrade small parrots to - more than enough space for a small flock of budgies, or multiple cockatiel/conure sized birds. Unlike a lot of flight cages in this price range, bars are welded and don't "slot" into the frame pieces, so it's a lot sturdier and way easier to clean. Quality metal construction, just be ready for a field day putting it together - just like more expensive (but functionally identical A&Es), instructions suck and the base can be frustrating to put together.
Can't go wrong with this for medium or even medium-large parrots, especially with a lot of horizontal space for flight. Will definitely be getting more. - Ken M.

This I my second one, excellent size for two ringnecks. Open interior leaves tons of space for toy, perch and food/water dish arrangement. Large front doors make for easy access for cleaning.

Got this cage for two conures overall extremely pleased with my purchase. Pros are many space, quality, 1/2 inch bar spacing and much more. One of the advantages over some of the competitors offerings is the versatility available provided by not having fixed feed/water dish doors. We move our food and water stations around occasionally to make it interesting for the birds and so we can adapt to different perches they frequent to keep them more sanitary. As for the cons there are a couple. I would prefer if the side doors had a half open option to allow them to act as a perch instead of simply open or closed. I adapted a small bracket to accommodate this. The second is the lower front door is not required. Ours is basically blocked off with a wooden perch that acres as our front porch for the top door. -Gary

Overall I really enjoy this cage. It offers amazing space for my green cheek conure. The only draw back would be the 2 front doors. They don't have anything to really hold them open. Which can be a little hazardous. I did buy some magnets on Amazon. Which have been pretty helpful in that area. I purchased this cage for my Parakeet. It's the right bar spacing and is a very generous size. He loves it still getting used to it but I can tell by how much he flits all around that he really likes it. It was pretty easy to put together the video really helped. I received my cage literally the next day it was kind of scary how quickly I received it.

This is my second Brisbane cage and I do NOT like the new design! There is a gap between the slide out bottom and the back of the cage. I’m quite sure a glider can squeeze through. Also I much prefer the plastic tray to the metal. It is lightweight, easy to clean and won’t rust. -Michelle F.

It's big and decent quality. Somewhat difficult to build because it was kinda bent in a few spots. Also the door latches seem cheap like they won't last but overall I probably would by again for my sugar gliders.

This marks the 5th cage I've had to purchase for my sugar gliders due to rust.. Love the cage but always prep your cages for rust people. Save some money, wish I had someone to tell me prior to spending at least 1k in cages. I won't buy another cage, so if this cage starts to rust, sadly, I will rehome my gilders. -Tammra T.

We have three young Pearly Conures and the size is pretty good. Would have liked a slightly wider cage (32”) but this was the largest I could find with .5" bar spacing.
Pros;
The quality of the finish is good and should hold up nicely.
Assembly was strait forward only had an issue tightening one screw, the receiving fitting turned so it couldn’t be snugged down. It still secured the back panel to the top.
Cons;
PULL-OUT TRAY: The bottom wire grate fits poorly, if the front of the tray is flush there is a large gap in the back. The bottom solid tray doesn’t appear to have the same issue.
The front & side doors as well as the bottom grate are made of a slotted sheet metal instead of wire as the pictures showed in the advertisement. The birds don’t seem to mind but it affects viewing. It gives the cage a bulkier aesthetic. -Gary K. C.

So far so good! I'm giving it four stars only because I haven't had it for very long, so don't how things will shake out over time, but I love this cage so far! It's bigger than I was expecting and sturdy, and my chinchilla seems very comfortable in it. Assembly was easy enough; the written instructions are sparse and in all honesty kind of useless for me, but exotic nutrition has a detailed step-by-step video that showed exactly what to do, which I prefer anyway. I love that the cage is 100% metal, so I don't have to worry about my little friend chewing on plastic. The only thing I would change, is that I wish there were one large door instead of two smaller ones, however since the cage is designed with sugar gliders in mind and not chins, I understand why it would be made that way. All in all, very happy with what I got, especially for the price -- would recommend! -Olivia L.

The cage is wonderful. I was so happy how quickly I received it. I only wish the the bottom was attached to the cage instead of sliding out like the catch tray. My sugar glider is very small, and when I could not find her I started to freak out. She fit between the back wall all the bottom of the cage, and was in the catch tray. I had to roll towels and place them in the area at the back to prevent her from doing this again. Other then that I am really pleased. - Janice S.

Assembly took two people when it came to the stand, great size, Came with two food trays, and two small wooden perches one came broken. They are very small don’t really fit anywhere but I made it work didn’t expect them it was really nice to have that stuff included. My items shipped quick. Assembly you definitely need your own tools. Other than that I absolutely love this cage. I currently have 9 chinchillas (13 total over the past 24 years), so you could say my experience with different cages is quite substantial haha. Currently in use, I have a double MidWest Critter Nation and THIS cage (Exotic Nutrition Brisbane Sugar Glider cage). For the price, size, color choices, durability, sturdiness, and ease of cleaning, I must say the Brisbane Sugar Glider cage is BY FAR my FAVORITE cage (of dozens)! I have my oldest (and first female) chinchilla living in it, but you can easily fit two chinnies in it comfortably if you have a bonded pair. It does come with 2 plastic two-compartment mountable food dishes (I use them to store bolts/wing nuts/washers/cage parts since plastic is toxic to chins and I can’t use them inside the cage - the chins would tear plastic to shreds anyway), and two wooden cage-length dowel-like perches that I had wired together to turn into one giant ledge (before my one chin destroyed the wood anyway lol). If you use the cage for gliders instead of chinchees, you can put these items to good use. But with my “off label” use for the cage, I feel like I didn’t waste money, as I was still able to use the accessories (just differently lol). I hope this review helps the fact that this cage is GREAT for chinchillas. I always see owners only recommending the MidWest Critter/Ferret Nation. This cage is way more affordable, MUCH easier to maneuver, and is the ONLY cage I’ve seen that offers 1/2 inch, yet vertical, bar spacing. Also, the door latches are GENIUS and there is no mistaking whether or not you left a cage door unlocked (I’ve heard of owners forgetting to latch a MidWest cage, and as an owner of that brand, you can’t tell from looking if the door is locked unless you physically yank on the doors each and every time you close them. There are also horror stories of pets escaping from their cages after the pets have reached past the cage bars to slide the latches to the open position (seen commonly with the Prevue Feisty Ferret cage) - often an additional locking clip must be attached, which can be a hassle and obviously more money. Love this cage so so much...plan on getting more. -Lauren A.

It's not rust proof. I have had it for several years and the bottom bars along the outside edges where it sits on the cart is rusted.

The cage is excellent! I spent months and months looking for a new cage for my chinchilla. We've had her over eight years, and she's been in the same cage the whole time. It was time for a new one!
Exotic Nutrition, which Google unfortunately took forever to suggest to me, is the only place I was able to find a cage with a) a safe grates bottom, b) no plastic ramps or shelves, c) nice doors, and d) good bar spacing. The cage was easy to put together on my own, and she's loving all the extra upward jumping room.
The shelf on the bottom is also huge! It's probably a foot taller than the shelf on her last cage, and it makes for great storage (and a great place for the kittens to play, lol) -Courtney E.

Brisbanes are the exclusive cage of my sugar glider program. I love how they stack. But I am very disappointed in the changes recently made, now my replacement cages in future will not natch the others. Not only is the stand different but the cage itself too. We've had our Brisbane for about 6 years. It's been great for our two boys, given them plenty of space. The door latches are a little iffy, easy for the gliders to reach and pull after some use, but we've solved that problem by using S-carabiners to secure the doors. Those little scamps will not be opening those anytime soon.
Be aware that with age comes problems. We just had the long bar across the front bottom snap at the end where it joins the vertical bar. This could be attributed to a rust-through. Would love to just be able to replace the front face of the cage, but I don't see that option. All metal things deteriorate with age and rust, but I still think highly of this cage. If you have 2-3 gliders, this is a great option for you. - John

I have had this cage since September now is January hubby helped me put it together..and love no problems good strong sturdy cage..Love the cage locks no escapees if you close locks all the way correctly.. slide out tray is easy clean up(gotta make sure you put back in tray correctly and lock correctly or they can escape underneath lol happened couple times woke up to glider jumping on my bed hehe oops my bad..I now double check that I put tray in right and secured as well as locks on doors) and love bottom rack I store bins underneath for things I store for them. My first glider got out of this cage. I looked all over for him could not catch him since he was not bonded yet. I came home and he was laying on his back dying I tried to feed him honey water and get him warm. Tried to rush him to the vet but he did not make it. Then I had another instance the other day where my gliders arm got stuck between the bars of the cage while I was at work and I came home to him dead and he was perfectly health before I left eating drink jumping around like normal. I contacted exotic nutrition and they said it was not there fault at all on either of the instances. They will do absolutely nothing to make the situation better but have there customer service representatives get mad at you on the phone. This company is not for the consumer all they want is money and don’t care about your animals. - Shelby G.

Looking back on the original issue, the incident report states that the locking mechanism for the tray was not in use, which is likely how the first glider escaped. In regards to the second incident, based on the information provided the cage was not defective in any way and the bar spacing measures 1/2" wide as expected. Don't buy this cage. Firstly, it arrived damaged: the finish was badly scraped on the pieces of the cart and the jointing parts to the cart were bent. When I contacted the company, they blamed the shipping company for the damage. Ok, I used pliers to fix them and put the cage together. The paper directions are really unclear, so this took a while. Anyway, it seemed to be a good cage (well-built and the latches are secure), however my sugar gliders (1 year old) can escape through the openings above the top door. It was too expensive to have this much trouble with it, and I would not recommend it at all. -Karen O.

Bought this BRISBANE cage for our 8 month old Gliders. They are little escape artists, but not any more.
We have the Madagascar cage for our others. This BRISBANE cage is so big we can watch them play and see everything they do. It is amazing.
Putting together was easy. Took me 1/2 an hour. One caster wheel would not go in so I wallered out the hole with a screwdriver and it slid right in. This is a great home for 2-4 gliders possibly more. -Luke G.

Just bought my second Brisbane. I have to pairs of sugar gliders that don't like each other. I had a large cheap flight cage for about a year for one set and it began to flake the finish and rust. My original Brisbane I have had for 3 years and it still looks brand new and my boys love it. It is large, durable, easy to clean and the wire spacing is perfect. -Julie M.

I got the brisbane cage once my glider was about 5 months old and he loves it. I had him in a small bird cage before, i decided using a joey cage first was easier. Moving him to a bigger cage made it cleaner and easier cleanup. I have looked at the other cages and it is still the better deal as far as space and the under storage is a must. When we received the box a couple of the pieces were bent some of the screw were already in the cage so that took some time to figure out by the parts list. It seems to be very sturdy. We bought this for our daughter’s sugar glider. I wouldn’t recommend putting a baby sugar glider in because there are a couple places that are more than a 1/2” wide. She was able to put her head thru and get out. I’m hoping as she grows a little this won’t be a problem. The shelf below is very nice to have. We store her treats in glass jars and keep them under her cage. Overall it was an okay purchase. -Beth A.

A great cage, well built, not hard to put together. Came with only 2 bird perches, but those are very easy to make.
Our little conure, BJ, thinks he's in a mansion now. And Exotic Nutrition was the very best price on this when they had their sale. Was received quickly in good shape.
Our conure doesn't like to be in his cage, he always has to be out on us. But when we are doing things and he needs to be in his cage, he has plenty of room to explore, and play and swing on his toys. The sandstone cage looks great in our house. -Sharon C.

My sugar gliders sure do love the room they have. It was easy to put together. However, some of the screws are already pre-installed in parts of the cage, so the directions can get confusing. -Denise B.

Everything seemed fine except it didn't come with all of the screws for the stand. I was able to make it work by using extra screws from another part but i still didn't have enough. The side doors were pretty loose too but nothing a pair of pliers couldn't fix. -Cassandra Ann

2nd Brisbane I bought had a little issue with one door but a quick message and new door sent in just couple days later. Easy to clean, especially on cart space under cage great for storing supplies. If I need another cage I would by again. this is a much sturdier cage than some that look similar for cheaper. Well worth the price! -Debbie Z.

Wonderful spacious cage. I wish I had seen this cage before I had purchased any others. Made well and gives my sugar gliders plenty of room to play. Also I love how you can sit on a chair to change the paper on the bottom tray. The starter kit with this cage is a great value for new sugar glider parents! :-)

Our sugies love their new cage, Hubby got this for me (for them) for Christmas. There is so much room and very sturdy. Arrived earlier than expected, box was a bit damaged and one of the stand rails bent but was able to straighten it out with some pliers. Paint did crack and chip in that spot but still happy with the order! -Katherine H.

It is an amazing cage that is fairly simple to put together. My only critique is that the top part isn't bolted into the bottom, wheeled part. I wish there were a couple screws to keep it in place as I move it often and the way it wobbles sometimes worries me. It is also a bit difficult to clean but if you remove the drop pan and the bottom bars (where the gliders can walk) then it is possible to get to every part. Other than that, it is an amazing cage with plenty of room for my two girls, their two wheels, and all of their toys :) -Kaelyn A.

The design of the cage makes it easy to use and sturdy, but there are problems.
The track where the bottom grate slides out collects a lot of gunk and it's hard to clean.
I had this cage for only a year and a half and it has developed a lot of rust spots.

Absolutely amazing cage. The last one we got from amazon.com our suggies found all kinds of ways to escape. They aren’t very happy that they can’t escape from this one. It’s super sturdy and secure. The smaller bars are not flimsy and floppy like usual. Reasonable price especially for the size, and super easy assembly. -Jennifer G.

Really good cage, I'm buying 2 more so I'll have 3 altogether. The only things I don't like are the little doors on the side my sugar gliders can open but it's nothing, 2 zip ties can fix it. When you move the cage it can come off the stand, I wish it was bolted to the stand like the double wide, so I zip tide it to the stand. -Todd M.
