Prairie Dog Cages

QUALITY SUGAR GLIDER CAGES Listed below are a variety of Prairie Dog cages that we offer. Prairie dog cages must be sturdy in order to contain your pet Prairie dog for extended periods of time. We offer high quality, heavy duty cages that offer easy to clean 'pull-out' trays.

Prairie dog cages come in a variety of shapes and sizes. A Prairie dogs cage should be large enough to house your pet prairie dog comfortably for extended periods of time. Cage accessories can be added to any of the above Prairie dog cages ... such as tunnels, wooden shelters (sleeping chambers), chew toys, feeding and watering devices (see our Prairie dog cage accessory department and our feeding & watering department. Prairie Dog cages must be safe ... 1/2 inch to 1 inch bar spacing is recommended, and multiple levels are prefered. Adult Prairie dogs will stand up to 12 inchs tall and weigh about 3 lbs. The cage should be a minimum of 24" x24" x 30" high. The mesh on the bottom of the cage should be no more than 1/2 inch.

Place your Prairie dog cage in a busy room where there is no direct sunlite (it cannot escape if it gets too hot). The same is true if the cage is placed in the path of heater vents or a/c vents. Don't forget to add an exercise wheel ... Prairie dogs will gain too much weight if not allowed to exercise.

Don't forget to add pleanty of chew toys ... Prairie dogs are rodents and their front teeth continue to grow throughout their life. Gbawing is the only way for them to keep their teeth at the correct length.
