Attracting bluebirds has become a highly popular passtime in the United States. Here at Exotic Nutrition, we first started selling live mealworms not as bluebird food, but as a supplemental food for small exotic mammals and reptiles. As time passed, we realize that feeding bluebirds live mealworms was a thriving passtime, and that a majority of our live mealworm orders were being sent to bluebird enthusiasts throughout the United States. At that point we decided to open a bluebird only department in our website. We now not only offer live mealworms for feeding bluebirds, but also live phoenix worms, dried waxworms, dried mealworms, canned insects and an assortment of worm feeders, bluebird nest boxes, and other supplies for your bluebird friends. Live mealworms are an excellent food source for bluebirds and other wild birds. If you are hesitant in feeding live insects, may of our customers use our dried or canned mealworms. The canned mealworms can be fed right out of the can, just make sure that you refrigerate the can after opening. Dried mealworms and waxworms can be fed straight out of the bag. No refrigeration necessary, although many of our customers prefer to soak the dried mealworms overnight in water before feeding.

Feeding live, dried or canned mealworms to your bluebirds is easy. Live mealworms can be placed in a smooth bottom container near the activity of your bluebird flock or nest box. Cover the top area of the bluebird feeder so that rain water cannot enter the feeding area (water will kill the mealworms) a cover will also keep the live worms out of the direct sunlight. Replace with more worms when you see the dish empty. We also sell feeders specifically made for feeding live mealworms, see our section on feeders above.
Dried or canned mealworms can be offered to bluebirds at any time. Place 50-100 worms in an open top container near the bluebird activity area.
