Mealworms need to be contained when they're placed inside the terrarium /cage or they will quickly escape by digging their way into the substrate where they will remain hidden until they metamorphose into an inedible beetle. More likely, they will simply die, with their decomposing bodies creating a banquet of harmful bacteria. Shipping Live Insects / Guarantee: Live mealworms orders are shipped Mon. -Fri. All live mealworm orders typically using Priority mail service. (2 business day delivery time). During Fall/Winter months ... we may use UPS Ground service, depending on the delivery location, but during the Spring and Summer, we only use Priority Mail Service. You must have your orders shipped to a place where they can be received and cared for upon delivery. We can not guarantee live delivery if your order was left outside because no one was around to receive it, or if it was left in a mailbox for an extended period. We cannot guarantee live delivery if the temperatures in your area are above 80 degrees F, or below 32 degrees F, at the place of delivery or If the temperatures are going to be 80 degrees or above, or 32 degrees or below at the delivery location, we suggest that you use Next Day Air delivery service to help ensure live delivery. If your worms do not arrive to you alive, you must contact us with-in 24 hours of delivery time, and meet the above guarantee restrictions, in order to file a claim for replacement worms. We cannot make exceptions to this policy. In the case of DOA mealworms, we will replace the worms at no charge, but shipping costs will be added to the replacement order. We are not responsible for carrier problems or delays. Claims due to carrier mistakes or delay must be handled through the carrier, not Exotic Nutrition. We ship live mealworms via Priority Mail or UPS depending on the distance, time of year, and temperatures.
